Objective

Each student will be able to correctly identify the anatomical positions of the bodies cavities, the organs contained in each cavity, and the major organ systems on a picture of each specific. The students will also be able to correctly explain the the role/function each play in the body. Every student should be able to complete both tasks with 80% or higher accuracy on the three quizzes.

Learning Environment

The students will be in a typical science orientated high school classroom. The classroom will be equipped with a projection screen, so the teacher can present the pictures they have saved into Evernote. All students will participate in this lesson at their own desk by taking notes on the information that is being presented.

Description of Students

The students participating in this lesson will be in grades 11th or 12th. Each students should generally be between sixteen years to eighteen years old and enrolled in an Anatomy and Physiology class.

Materials

• Pictures of body cavities, organs, and organ system saved and organized into Evernote
• Copies of the same examples in Evernote for the students to take notes on
• Quizzes previously created for the teachers to evaluation the students on that contain the same pictures presented to class from Evernote

Procedure

1. Prior to the lesson plan, the teacher would need to find the pictures needed to complete the lesson plan, save the pictures to Evernote, and organize the pictures in Evernote.
2. The teacher would also be required to create the handouts and quizzes prior to the lesson.
3. To start the lesson plan, briefly introduce what will be covered and required. The lesson plan will cover the locations and functions of the body cavities, organs contained in each cavity, and the major organ systems. Each student will be required to complete the handouts regarding the lessons and complete a quiz.
4. This lesson will be divided up into three sections. All three sections do not have to be completed in one class period. It may be beneficial to complete one section in one class. The sections will be: Body Cavities and Quiz, Organs Contained in Each Cavity and Quiz, and The Major Organ Systems and Quiz
5. Introduce each section to the lesson.
6. Pass out the handout that pertains to the lesson being discussed. Explain that they are required to fill in the handout and will be required to turn in the handout for a grade and there will also be a brief quiz about the information at the end of section/class.
7. Pull up the pictures you have previously saved in Evernote.
8. Discuss all parts of the body cavities, organs in each cavity, or the major organ systems. Focus more in depth over the parts that the students will be tested over.
9. Explain the functions that pertain to all the parts being presented.
10. Have a class discussion over each section. Allow the students to ask questions about the locations or functions of the body parts.
11. When the students have no further questions and have successfully completed their handouts, collect the handouts and pass out the quiz.

Application

Each student will be given three separate handouts regarding the locations and functions of body cavities, the organs contained in each cavity, and the major organ systems. Each student will be required to take notes and complete each handout throughout the discussions over the three topics.

Evaluation

Each student will need to turn in their completed handouts at the end of section before the quiz. The students will receive participation points for accurately and fully completing the handouts. At the end of each section the students will be given a quiz on the section that was previously covered. Each quiz will contain the pictures that were presented in Evernote and discussed in class. Each student will be required to individually and correctly label the pictures on the quiz, as well as give a brief description of what they labeled. Each student should pass each of the three quizzes with 80% accuracy or above.
